When it snows in Split it's a holiday. Literally. Nobody goes to work (to be honest, they cannot go even if they wanted because their cars have bad or summer tires, no snow chains or experience of driving on snow), all usual life stops and everybody goes out to make snowmen, to slide, or to ski. Or just to enjoy whiteness of that unique occasion.
All of that excitement is because snow in my town is so rare that it becomes breaking news. And past weekend we had biggest snow in past 50 years and city was in total madness.
Yet, after the whole excitement goes away, in comes the ice. Since our road cleaning services almost do not exist (they have two trucks) whole city is one big ice-skating rink.
So, basically normal life is now paralysed until warmer weather comes and ice melts
